The Orthodontic Profession
To build a profession based partly on science and partly on art, it takes a membership who are completely honest, devoid of false pride, have great love of their profession and are willing to place the best interests of their profession before their own self interests. Such a profession must be based on basic bedrock facts. We have had many such persons from the beginning, and we owe them a debt of gratitude.
But to know in one’s heart that a given, important concept is correct, and then spending a forty year career writing and participating and ignoring this correct scientific fact, is missing a golden opportunity to contribute something of value to our beloved profession. Such careless shameful treatment of our profession finally leads to complete chaos.
Since we now are a world organization, we now have a golden opportunity to build a better profession, and render a better service to our patients. I feel very humble and honored to be privileged to render a small contribution to our beloved profession.
